I hate it so bad. My hair is black and purple so i'm "emo" huh? well goody, someone tell me exactly what emo means would ya? because it seems to me EVERYONE has a different answer. I always thought it was a kind of music, but I guess now it is a word to discribe everyone and everything. Hmmm someone explain please? God you're all so...emo. :]

It actually used to be a word for a type of hardcore punk music, which turned into a kind of softcore punk, but now it's being used to describe lots of music. I get called emo for liking indie rock, which doesn't make sense to me, because it's a far cry from punk, and none of the bands I'm into were even influenced by the original emo. And if we're just calling it "emotional," well all music is emotional. Country, rap, r%26amp;b, hard rock, there's extreme emotion in all of it. So why not call that stuff emo as well? It makes no sense.
