My sister is thirteen years old. I found some pretty disturbing poems and diary entries on her computer about how her life sux, my dad is never here, my mom is a "spaz" and i'm an a$$whole. She thinks she's Emo (the way she dresses, does her hair, the way she does her make-up at times, the way she thinks, things she does and music she listens to)She thinks that the only way is to slit her writs and then everyone will be sorry especailly my dad (she has scrathches on her arm if you can call them that!). Although my dad works from home spoils her rotten and never says that he doesn't have time for her or the rest of us. Yes my mom can freak out sometimes but who's mom doesn't? and brothers and sisters arn't always supposed to get along. I don't know why she is doing this or how to stop it. My dad is a hardworking man who helps everyone especailly his kids and for the first time in my life i saw my dad cry when he saw joie's arm and she seemed almost proud that she made him cry. HELP!

You defenitly need to talk to someone about this your parents, counsler, etc. if she is serious she could be suicidal and she needs to get help. If your the only one that knows this then you should tell someone right away. If you don't you may regret it. Tell someone and get her help. i did the same an i made a deal with some one an it helped me well u need to read y it sux an fix it help her i bout killed myself she will do it deeper an deeper i did not think i wood make it go deep but i did try to listen to her

I have almost never heard of a teenager not having a relationship problem with their parent(s). However, if the teen exhibits self-destructive behavior like this, intervention is required.

The only way to help her is to tell your dad that she is a cutter and you HAVE to get her help. A friend of mine went through that and she had to get help to stop, she is still tempted to do it but she thinks of another way instead of releasing the pain through a cut. Oh man. This "emo" thing is out of hand. Emo is a state of mind and is not a way you dress. And its ridiculous how "styles" are affecting youth today.

Try to talk to your sister about it. If the cutting is life threatening, she needs to seek professional help. But if it is just small cuts or whatnot, try to talk to her about it.

It may be just a phase she is going through.

I know alot of people who use to do that.

But don't write it off as a phase just yet, and keep your eye on her. And pray for her.

Unfortunatey , things like these not even a counselor can help her, shes obviously crying out for attention. I believe that some people can only be loved and and help at a certain point, if you can talk to her her not as a sister but as a person, and let her know that, that even though she thinks nobody is there you are. Dont treat hert like a freak cause thats the last thing she needs. If you take her to a pshi, they will only giver her medication, and that's not for her. Invite her to show you the things she enjoys so she feels thats somebody cares for her and the things she likes, it'll take time cause she could also be addicted on cutting herself. I hope that your sister doesnt come to a point in her life of no return, cause unfortunately some people have to to come into a turning point in their life.

This is VERY difficult. There is no easy answer. Probably the very best answer is to get the entire family into counselling. That way, you have someone there with you every week to see what is going on and give suggestions and strategies. If money is an issue, get books on the topic and read as much as humanly possible about it for the next month or two.

One thing that you can do now. Listen to her. This is more difficult than it sounds. It is difficult to listen to someone without wanting to put in your own 2 cents. What you have to do is listen to her, and do not add in what you are thinking AT ALL, until she says, "What do you think?" I am not saying you can't talk. You can repeat what she says, so that she sees and hears that you really are listening. If she says, "My friends hate me." You can say, "You feel like your friends hate you." If she stops talking, you can say, "Can you tell me more about that?"

Why do this? Because she is obviously seeking attention. REAL attention. If you do not do this, she will run to every person that ever does show her some attention. She is so used to other people not respecting her, that she does not respect herself. She needs to have someone respect what she is thinking.

She is crying out for help, a person that wants to cut their wrist WILL, and do it the right way, not play or try to get attention. this should be brought up to a family doctor for a mental evaluation. Well...First you need to talk to her. Tell her there are worse things in this world. Trust me I know. Tell her there is no such thing as a "perfect family". Then try your best to not fight with her and be nice to her. You have to be sensitive to her feelings, pretty soon you and her will be friends. Thats what me and my sister did. When I see an argument coming, I try not to say anything. Then takl to your parents about and and be as serious as possible. Tell your dad he cant spoil her with things he has to be there for her. He has to talk to her. Tell your mom to stick to what shes doing. She is being a mom. She should talk to her but dont lay off being worried and freakin out. Dont give her too much attention cause thats just wierd. Then take her to a doctor and you all should get counciling...If that doesnt work your mom could always discipline her. Its not beating...Cause in the Bible it says If you spare the rod you spoil the child. Thats probably what they have been doing. Spoilin her. You have to let her know she cant do things like this to get her way.
