What does having layers really mean? describe. And how do i get the "choppy layers" look? How is it done? Using a razor? Someone who knows, fill me in alright. Thanks.

Layers are just that... It's like having all your hair slightly different lengths so it sits in what look like layers and you can style it in that "scenester" sorta way.

Choppy is usually done with a razor, very blunt, and straight cut or sheared so you get that piecy, messy look...

for the choppy hair, the hairstylist first cuts hair into layers and then they take the ends and use some kind of razor scissors and just trim the ends. well im no profesional hairstylist so i dont know EXACTLY how to get layers. but it basically having different sections of hair at different lenghts; shorter on the top.

layers just means your hair is at different lengths so you can flip it out or spike it or whatever... gives it a sort of choppy look. for choppy layers, there's more difference between the lengths so it's sort of blocky looking.

to cut hair in layers you have to separate it (clips work well) and then cut it however short/long you want it... a razor will flick the hair outward or inward depending on how you use it, and it gives it a jagged/piecy look. but a razor used to cut hair is different from an ordinary razor.

layers are pretty difficult to cut on your own though... i wouldn't recommend it. :0

first emo and scene are different

so if your trying to be scene

the first thing i would is find out what scene really is.

what i do is i just get scissors and grab the top layer of my hair and cut it

i make it really choppy

so its not straight

theirs different lengths in one layer

idk if you get what i mean

its kinda hard to explain

but make sure the layers are short
