My sister is thirteen years old. I found some pretty disturbing poems and diary entries on her computer about how her life sux, my dad is never here, my mom is a "spaz" and i'm an a$$whole. She thinks she's Emo (the way she dresses, does her hair, the way she does her make-up at times, the way she thinks, things she does and music she listens to)She thinks that the only way is to slit her writs and then everyone will be sorry especailly my dad (she has scrathches on her arm if you can call them that!). Although my dad works from home spoils her rotten and never says that he doesn't have time for her or the rest of us. Yes my mom can freak out sometimes but who's mom doesn't? and brothers and sisters arn't always supposed to get along. I don't know why she is doing this or how to stop it. My dad is a hardworking man who helps everyone especailly his kids and for the first time in my life i saw my dad cry when he saw joie's arm and she seemed almost proud that she made him cry. HELP!

If your the only one that knows this then you should tell someone right away. If you don't you may regret it. Tell someone and get her help. I have almost never heard of a teenager not having a relationship problem with their parent(s). However, if the teen exhibits self-destructive behavior like this, intervention is required.

Try to talk to your sister about it. If the cutting is life threatening, she needs to seek professional help. But if it is just small cuts or whatnot, try to talk to her about it.
It may be just a phase she is going through.
I know alot of people who use to do that.

I believe that some people can only be loved and and help at a certain point, if you can talk to her her not as a sister but as a person, and let her know that, that even though she thinks nobody is there you are. Dont treat hert like a freak cause thats the last thing she needs. If you take her to a pshi, they will only giver her medication, and that's not for her. Probably the very best answer is to get the entire family into counselling. That way, you have someone there with you every week to see what is going on and give suggestions and strategies. If money is an issue, get books on the topic and read as much as humanly possible about it for the next month or two.
One thing that you can do now. Listen to her. This is more difficult than it sounds. It is difficult to listen to someone without wanting to put in your own 2 cents. What you have to do is listen to her, and do not add in what you are thinking AT ALL, until she says, "What do you think?" I am not saying you can't talk. You can repeat what she says, so that she sees and hears that you really are listening. If she says, "My friends hate me." You can say, "You feel like your friends hate you." If she stops talking, you can say, "Can you tell me more about that?"
Why do this? Because she is obviously seeking attention. REAL attention. If you do not do this, she will run to every person that ever does show her some attention. She is so used to other people not respecting her, that she does not respect herself. She needs to have someone respect what she is thinking.

Trust me I know. Tell her there is no such thing as a "perfect family". Then try your best to not fight with her and be nice to her.
